Members of the Jain community have been organizing the Janma Kalyanak festival of Lord Mahaveer since March 25 in Belagavi.
Various cultural programs and competitions will be held till March 27. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, will launch the Ahimsa Rally on March 29 at the CPED premises.
Speaking to reporters in Belagavi on Tuesday (March 24), Sanjay Patil, president of the Utsav Samiti, told reporters, “We have been organizing the birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveer since 1999 in Belagavi.”
A blood donation camp will be held at Gomatesh Vidyapeeth on March 28. On the same day, children will perform a play on the life of Lord Mahaveer.
The Utsav Samiti will felicitate KLE Honorary Chairman Prabhakar Kore for being selected for the Padma Sri award at Mahaveer Bhavan in Belagavi on March 29. Lalit Sanghvi Kataria, President of the All India Jain Kataria Foundation National Unit will start the procession at Tilak Chowk, Committee Secretary Gaurna Rajagonda Kataria on March 30. Shah, Raju Khoda, Pushpak Hanumannanavar, Padmaraj Vaijannavar and Sachin Patil were present.
