Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the current season. The club confirmed the news on Tuesday, bringing the curtain down on one of the most decorated spells in the club’s history.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward made the announcement himself through a video message posted on his social media accounts. He said he wanted supporters to hear it directly from him.

SALAH SPEAKS
“Unfortunately, that day has come. This is the first part of my farewell,” Salah said. “I will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
Liverpool supported the announcement with an official statement. The club said Salah decided to go public at the earliest opportunity “because of his respect and gratitude” to the fans.
LEGENDARY NINE YEARS
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 for around $50 million. Few could have predicted the impact it would have. He became one of the greatest players in the club’s history, scoring 255 goals in 435 games. This puts him third in Liverpool’s all-time scoring charts behind Roger Hunt (285) and Ian Rush (346).
He helped the club win eight major trophies during his nine years at Anfield. These include two Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup, two League Cups, a Club World Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
Individually, Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times, in 2017-18, 2018-19, 2021-22 and 2024-25. That matches Arsenal great Thierry Henry’s record. His debut season at the club, in which he scored 44 goals in all competitions, remains one of the best individual campaigns in Premier League history.
In his farewell message, Salah spoke about what the club meant to him.
“I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become a part of my life,” he said. “Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit.”
He added: “We have celebrated victories, we have won the most important trophies and we have fought together through the most difficult period of our lives.”
No details on his next destination have been announced. At 33, Salah remains one of the most recognizable names in world football. His departure marks the end of an era at one of the biggest sports clubs.
Liverpool have not confirmed any replacement plans ahead of next season.
