The Gamma Camera (SPECT-CT) and High Dose Therapy Unit were inaugurated at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Mangalagiri on Tuesday (March 24, 2026).
According to the press release, SPECT-CT is a diagnostic imaging system that allows functional imaging of various organs. The technology improves early and accurate detection through more than 30 types of scans, facilitating early intervention and improving clinical outcomes. The technology has been procured for ₹ 10 crore, while the cost of diagnostic scans will range from ₹ 150 to ₹ 1,500.
Meanwhile, the High Dose Therapy Unit was tasked with providing advanced radionuclide therapy, especially for thyroid cancer patients. The device will play a key role in reducing recidivism rates and improving long-term prognosis, according to a news release.
Managing Director Ahanthem Santa Singh inaugurated the technology and therapeutic department.
