Two Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) workers were recently arrested in connection with the bomb attack on the house of a police officer attached to the Kannavam station at Cheruvanchery in Kannur, Kerala.
The accused have been identified as K. Rahul, a native of Kolayadu, and P. Jithin of Kakkayangad in Muzhakunn. According to the police, Rahul is accused of murdering Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI) worker Salahudhene.
The attack was targeted at the residence of a Special Branch officer of the Kannavam police station. However, the bomb failed to detonate.
Police said the two-member gang arrived on a motorcycle and threw a bomb at the house before fleeing. The accused were later tracked down, with CCTV footage playing a key role in their identification and capture.
Police said the device used was a high-pressure steel bomb, suggesting the possibility of serious damage if it exploded.
Further investigation is underway.
