TNEA 2026 Rank List Released; counseling for general category students from 20th July

One-stop counseling for admissions to undergraduate courses in colleges affiliated to Anna University will begin on July 20, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan said on Wednesday after releasing the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 rank list.

There will be three rounds of counseling for general category students opting for academic stream while those opting for professional stream will have one round of counselling. Candidates will have until July 6 to resolve their grievances regarding the merit list. The rank list and cutoff marks for each round of counseling has been published on the website www.tneaonline.org.

The ranking this year includes more than 2.36 million students out of more than 2.45 million candidates who have registered for TNEA 2026 and paid the registration fee. Of these, 1,30,767 are boys, 1,05,245 are girls and five are trans people.

Mr. Viswanathan said that this year, 50,494 students applied for the horizontal reservation category (7.5% reservation for those who studied in government schools from class VI to XII), while 46,604 made it to the merit list.

For general category students who fall under special reservation category such as sports quota (3,183 students), differently abled quota (493) and ex-servicemen quota (1,175), online counseling will be held from July 15 to July 18.

Likewise for horizontal reservation category students (499 students under sports quota, 149 under differently abled quota and 14 under ex-servicemen quota) online counseling will be held on 13th July and 14th July.

As many as 2,205 students in the general category and 524 students in the horizontal reservation category will participate in the professional stream — for which the selection process will be open from July 20 to July 22.

37,976 students with cut-off marks between 200 and 171,333 will participate in the selection process for the first round of academic counseling for general category students from July 20 to July 22. The deadline for confirmation of pre-allotment or upward mobility selection is July 25.

Similarly, the selection process for the second round will be held between August 3 and August 5 and will involve 93,117 candidates with a cutoff between 171 and 135.75. 1,02,719 candidates will participate in the final round, whose selection will take place between August 17 and August 19.
