The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will organize a unity meet by bringing together various Hindu communities and community organizations as part of the organization’s centenary celebrations, according to RSS Dakshain Kerala Saha Prantha Karyavah KB Sreekumar.
He briefed the media about the proceedings of the recently held three-day national conference of the organization in Haryana. The organization will also hold meetings with important personalities and youth. As many as 1,500 Hindu meetings were held in the state. RSS activists have already visited 22 thousand homes, including 64,000 Muslim and 54,000 Christian households in the state to spread the organisation’s message. Books and brochures about the organization were also distributed during home visits, he said.
“The RSS, which has around 7,000 ‘sakhs’ in the state, will expand its footprints in all villages and achieve the target of 10,000 sakhs,” he said.
Asked about the slow pace of political growth of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state despite the RSS having its troops in a large number of seats, Mr. Sreekumar said the party can grow on its own in the state. States where the BJP has established itself politically may not have a large number of RSS units, he said.
The RSS will not issue instructions to its workers on who to vote for in the elections. However, the organization is of the opinion that everyone should exercise their right, which is part of the civic responsibility of the citizens of the country. According to him, RSS workers would vote for those who subscribe to their ideology.
The organization has plans to decentralize its activities in the state. The organizational structure will be divided into two units instead. The three units will be based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, he said.
The RSS had clarified its stand on women entering the Sabarimala temple earlier, he said
RSS Prantha Prachar Pramukh M. Ganeshan was also present at the press conference.
