Two persons were arrested for possession of 5.5 kg ganja worth ₹ 2.75 lakh by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone, along with the Afzalgunj police.
The accused have been identified as 26-year-old Guru Pujari, a laborer from Odisha’s Malkangiri district, and 24-year-old Sanu Madhi, a laborer currently residing in Borabanda. Police said Guru Pujari acted as a peddler while Sanu Madhi was involved in selling the cloth.
According to officials, the two are from neighboring villages in Odisha and planned the operation about 15 days ago after Sanu Madhi informed Guru Pujari about the demand for ganja in Hyderabad, especially in Borabanda. Sanu Madhi asked him to procure and deliver contraband for sale.
Guru Pujari allegedly contacted a supplier identified as Santosh from Malkangiri who grows ganja in hilly areas and procured 5.5 kg of the substance. He then took her to Hyderabad to deliver her to Sanu Madhi.
The police seized contraband from them along with two mobile phones. The arrested persons have been handed over to the Afzalgunj police for further investigation.
