Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that the board will take action against players opting out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In 2025, Corbin Bosch left Peshawar Zalmi to play for Mumbai Indians. Now, in 2026, the blessings of Muzarabani left Islamabad United for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)while Dasun Shanaka joins Rajasthan Royals after leaving Lahore Qalandars.

Naqvi also said that the clash with the IPL is not an issue and stressed that the PSL cannot be postponed as there is no other available window in the calendar.
“We will take action against these players as per the rules. Last year also there was a case (of Corbin Bosch who was banned from PSL for one year) and the same will happen this time,” Naqvi said at a press conference on Sunday.
“Clash with IPL is not a problem because if players go there, excellent players will also come here. We couldn’t afford to postpone PSL as we don’t have any other window for the whole year,” Naqvi added.
DID PCB PUNISH THE PLAYERS IN ADVANCE?
While Blessing Muzarabani and Dasun Shanaka are yet to be officially decided, the PCB took action against Corbin Bosch last season after he opted out of his contract with Peshawar Zalmi.
Bosch became the first major flashpoint in the PSL vs IPL scheduling battle after he pulled out of PSL 2025 despite being selected by Zalmi in the Diamond category, in a deal reportedly worth around $85,000. He later left to join Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for Lizaad Williams when the PSL and IPL overlapped for the first time.
The PCB issued him a legal notice terming it a breach of contract. Although Bosch later publicly apologized, the council also imposed a one-year ban and fineswhich ruled him out of PSL 2026.
The PSL is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, with matches to be held in Lahore and Karachi. The games will be played behind closed doors due to ongoing security concerns and the country’s escalating fuel crisis. The grand opening was also canceled as part of a cost-cutting measure.
