
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday took stock of the oil, gas and other petroleum products and energy and fertilizer sectors with senior ministers in view of the evolving situation in West Asia.
The focus of the negotiations was ensuring continuous supply, stable logistics and efficient distribution throughout the country.
Modi chairs high-level review meeting
Union ministers Rajnath Singh (Defence), Amit Shah (Home), Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Agriculture), S Jaishankar (External Affairs), Nirmala Sitharaman (Finance), JP Nadda (Health), Piyush Goyal (Commerce and Industry) and Ashwini Vaishnaw (Railways) were among those who attended the high-level meeting.
Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal (Ports and Shipping), Manohar Lal Khattar (Electricity), Pralhad Joshi (Food and Consumer Affairs), Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu (Civil Aviation) and Hardeep Singh Puri (Petroleum), NSA Ajit Doval and two Principal Secretaries to the Prime Minister, PK Mishra, Shaktikanta Dahra
The meeting reviewed the current global situation due to the conflict in West Asia and the measures taken to protect the interests of consumers and industry, which is the main focus of the government.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Modi said the war in West Asia had triggered a global energy crisis, a critical test of national character that required addressing the circumstances through peace, patience and heightened public awareness.
The Prime Minister emphasized that his government is working tirelessly to resolve the disruptions that have occurred in international supply chains.
Modi talks to Pezeshkian
In the past few weeks, the Indian prime minister has spoken to many world leaders on Saturday, including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
“We expressed our hope that this festive season will bring peace, stability and prosperity to West Asia.
He condemned attacks on critical infrastructure in the region that threaten regional stability and disrupt global supply chains.
He reiterated the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and ensuring that shipping lanes remain open and safe.
