Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann takes over as Air Chief, IAF Southern Air Command

Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann has taken over as the Chief of Air Staff (AoC-in-C) of the Indian Air Force in Thiruvananthapuram based at the Southern Air Command (SAC).

Air Marshal Mann succeeds Air Marshal Manish Khanna as AoC-in-C of SAC.

Air Marshal Mann, who was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in December 1989, is a graduate of the Defense Staff College and Air Command and a postgraduate from the Royal College of Defense Studies, London.

He is an attack pilot instructor with over 3,000 hours of flying experience on aircraft including Apache, MiG-21, Jaguar, MiG-29, Su-30 and Rafale.

In a career spanning nearly four decades, he commanded a fighter squadron and served as the Air Officer Commanding Fighter Base Command. He held important command and staff positions, including the post of Air Defense Commander and Senior Officer (Administration) Command. At Air Headquarters, he served as Deputy Chief of Air Staff Operations (Offensive) and Director General (Weapon Systems).

Prior to his current appointment, he was the Senior Air Staff Officer at Western Air Command. He is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.
