Dr. PS Shankar Prathisthan in association with Dakshina Kannada Sangha and Rotary Club presented the prestigious Chiguru Chinmaya Award to seven budding talents in various fields of arts and others as part of Ugadi celebrations at Kalaburagi on Friday.
Chiguru Chinmaya Award winners included sisters Shivani S. Appa, an aspiring Bharatanatyam dancer, Bhavani S. Appa and Maheshwari S. Appa, both aspiring singers. Other winners of the Chiguru Chinmaya Award were Kumari Sanvi Sandeep, a budding visual artist, Pranav Satyampet, who is an expert in memorizing and reciting the Vachanas of the 12th century social reformer Mahatma Basaveshwara and other contemporary Sharanas, Koushik N. Mudabi, a singer from Koushik district and a Raj State level singer and Happy. an expert judo exponent who has won several awards in judo competitions held at the state and national levels.
Another awardee, Rakshita Konded, who has won several awards and recognitions in state and national level rangoli competitions, was felicitated in absentia.
The award carries a memento and cash prize of ₹2,000 each. The prize winner was thanked by Dr. Shankar and other dignitaries, including noted sculptor Chandrasekhar Shilpi, a national-level award winner, who presented the award.
