On the orders of Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, special teams of the Civil Supplies Department raided several Tiffin hotels and resorts, which were allegedly in unauthorized possession of many LPG cylinders. Due to non-availability of commercial LPG, many small tiffin centers use domestic LPG cylinders for cooking purposes.
Officials believed that diverting domestic fillings for commercial purposes would lead to a shortage of gas supplies to households. The department seized around 55 bottles and booked cases against 19 people in the last few days.
Vizianagaram District Civil Supplies Officer Muralinath informed the collector that there would be no shortage of domestic LPG as its supply from oil marketing companies was as usual. Mr. Ramsundar Reddy asked people not to panic booking as it would lead to shortage of fillings in the district. He said a control room has been set up to monitor the LPG stock in the district.
