The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on 23 April 2026, with several political players entering the fray: the ruling DMK and its alliance partners, the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and debutant Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by actor Vijay. The counting of votes will take place on May 4.
In the midst of this competition, the issues facing people including civic and infrastructural issues, women’s safety, education, employment and more will take center stage.
At The Hindu, we will be traveling to constituencies across the state and talking to voters about the issues that concern them and what they expect from the new government. Tune in to our Constituency Watch segment to follow our on-the-ground coverage.
