
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he had spoken to Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and greeted him on Eid and Nowruz. He reiterated the need to protect freedom of navigation and stressed that shipping lanes must remain open and safe during the disruption of the Strait of Hormuz.
He said both sides expressed hope that the festive season would bring peace, stability and prosperity across West Asia as the ongoing conflict continues.
PM Modi also said he strongly condemned attacks on critical infrastructure in the region, warning that such incidents undermine regional stability and disrupt global supply chains.
“He spoke to President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and conveyed Eid and Nowruz greetings. We expressed hope that this festive season will bring peace, stability and prosperity to West Asia,” PM Modi said at the X.
He added: “He condemned attacks on critical infrastructure in the region that threaten regional stability and disrupt global supply chains. He reiterated the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and ensuring shipping lanes remain open and safe.”
“I appreciate Iran’s continued support for the safety and security of Indian citizens in Iran,” he concluded.
