WHAT ROLE WILL GREEN PLAY FOR KKR?
Green is expected to come in as a replacement for Andre Russell, who retired from the IPL ahead of the new season. KKR assistant coach Shane Watson said they want to make the most of Green’s abilities with both bat and ball during the tournament.
“With Cameron Green and the quality he brings as an all-rounder – wherever he gets an opportunity, we want him to make the most of it. We’ve also got some serious players with a great mix of experience and youthful energy. So it’s very exciting to see how that develops over the course of the tournament,” said Green.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane said the team will clarify his role to Green after detailed discussions and after the next set of practice matches.
“We will have a detailed discussion with Cameron Green to define his role and responsibilities. He is a quality player who can bat in any position and contribute in some overs. Over the next few practice matches, we will get a better idea of how to use him most effectively in our combinations,” Rahane said.
KKR will begin their campaign against Green’s former side Mumbai Indians on March 29.
