Eight candidates filed nine sets of nomination papers for the Davangere South Assembly constituency on Friday.
So far, ten sets of nomination papers have been filed after the nomination process began, Returning Officer Santhosh Kumar said in a report.
Samarth Shamanur Mallikarjun, son of Horticulture Minister SS Mallikarjuna, filed two sets of nomination papers as a Congress candidate and an independent candidate, while Srinivas T. filed nomination papers as a BJP candidate.
Others who filed nomination papers on Friday were Iranna of Indian Political Congress, AT Dada Khalandar of Country Citizen Party, MG Shrikanth of Navabharath Sena Party, Sadiq Pailwan of INC, KH Mehaboob as independent candidate, KS Shivakumarappa of Aam Aadmi Party.
