Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday that various global companies and reputed institutions have shifted their investments to Telangana based on the importance the state attaches to industry.
The finance minister said this while presenting the budget for 2026-27, referring to several programs and mechanisms launched by the state government to accelerate industrial development. The creation of the SPEED or Speed Proactive Efficient and Effective Delivery division under the chief secretary was one of its mandates to implement and monitor the MoUs entered into by the state government with companies.
Mr. Vikramarka, who announced a budget allocation of ₹ 3,490 crore for industry in his speech, said the contribution of the industrial sector to GSDP was ₹ 3,04,217 crore. The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Telangana at current prices in 2025-26 was ₹17,82,198 crore.
Exports from Telangana stood at ₹ 1,61,843 crore, he said, adding that the aerospace and defense sectors play a key role and contribute nearly 30% of the total exports. “It is a matter of pride that the central government has recognized Telangana as the top champion in terms of ease of doing business,” the finance minister said.
Touching on several other programs implemented in the state, including the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative to promote women entrepreneurship, he said WE-Hub supports more than 700 women entrepreneurs in all the 33 districts of the state and contributes to their holistic development.
Industrial Center in Kodangal
The western region of Telangana, especially the Kodangal region, is set to emerge as a major industrial hub in the coming years. As a step towards this, the government has drawn up plans to amalgamate land for large industrial parks near the upcoming Radial Road II. Kodangal Multipurpose Industrial Park (MPIP) will also be developed along with this, he said.
Mr. Vikramarka said that the State Government in collaboration with the Center is developing the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City project. It is being implemented on an area of 3,245 acres as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme.
On investments flowing into the state, he said the 23rd BioAsia conference here last month saw investors expressing interest in investments totaling ₹1,700 crore.
