District Collector S. Venkateswar on Thursday (March 19) formally launched the e-dip lottery system for allotment of plots in Settipalle, a once controversial plot on the outskirts of Tirupati.
Out of a total of 2,111 beneficiaries, the first phase of allotment of 1,711 plots was done on Sankranti day while the second phase for 337 plots was started on the auspicious day of Ugadi.
Declared as Inam settlement u/s 1(4) of AP Estate (Abolition & Conversion into Ryotwari) Act 1948, Settipalle was taken over by the Government in 1979. As the usufructuary of these lands represented by the Collector and CMO in 2017 seeking issue of pattas as they decided to conduct their usufruct survey since then.
To resolve the decades-long row, the government came up with a land-sharing pattern of 30% for agricultural land and 50% for houses, excluding common areas, with the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) as the implementing agency.
TUDA chairman C. Divakar Reddy said Settipalle village would be converted into a planned model township that would benefit long-term settlers. Infrastructure facilities like water, sewerage, electricity, roads and street lights would be taken up by TUDA by monetizing the 65 acres. The state government has waived off the registration fee for these sites, said Tirupati MLA Arani Srinivasulu.
The Collector said that site registration would be started soon in coordination with TUDA and revenue officials.
