Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the Telangana government is committed to the welfare and development of farmers and is moving forward to become the number one state in the country in all aspects.
The government is adamant about making agriculture profitable and has therefore launched a flurry of measures to ensure they get remunerative prices and get rid of loans. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Ugadi — Telugu — new year celebrations organized by the state government in Hyderabad on Thursday (March 19, 2026). He said that the new year Paraabhava Nama Samvatsaram will be dedicated to the welfare of farmers.
The Chief Minister said the government was giving bonuses to farmers cultivating fine rice and it was a matter of pride that the state was among the lowest in the country in terms of farmers’ debt burden. More than 70% of the families in the state were dependent on agriculture, hence the state government introduced a crop loan waiver of up to ₹2,000 to benefit them.
Since taking over the reins, the Congress government has spent ₹18,000 crore on Rytha Bharosa and the installment of Yasangi (Rabi) will be released on March 22. The Dharani portal was scrapped as it proved to be a bane for farmers. Since then, the government has resolved the land issues amicably.
At the same time, the government was on alert for natural disasters. “I pray to God that the farmers of the state are not inconvenienced due to natural calamities,” he said.
