The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday (March 19, 2026) announced the second list of candidates for the assembly elections to be held on April 9 in Kerala. According to the list, which includes candidates for 39 constituencies, senior leader Kummanam Rajasekharan will contest from Arankrallmula while B. who started his preliminary campaign in the House of Representatives. Kodungallur, was now built from Guruvayur.
Meanwhile, CC Mukundan, the ousted Communist Party of India (CPI) MLA who later joined the BJP ahead of the Kerala Assembly polls, will be seeking the seat from Nattika. Vathsala Prasanna Kumar will contest from Paravur where Congress has fielded Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan.
86 names so far
With this, BJP has announced a total of 86 candidates so far.
Notably, there are six women in the second list, bringing the total number of candidates to 13. Of these, seven were featured in the first list, which was released two days ago. Notable names in the first list include Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who was fielded from the Nemom constituency in Thiruvananthapuram; former Union Minister V. Muraleedharan of Kazhakuttam; and George Kurian of Kanjirapalla.
The party is expected to announce another list of around 10 candidates in the coming days.
