The start of the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) public campaign in Ernakulam’s Perumbavoor Assembly constituency hit a pause button on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) after reports surfaced that the name of candidate 20 and actor Lakshmipriya was missing from the voters’ list.
A roadshow planned in Perumbavoor was called off at the last minute, though campaign managers cited the candidate’s health problems as the reason.
A senior party functionary confirmed the development and said the party may have to field another woman candidate in Perumbavoor if reports of her name not appearing in the voter’s list are true. We have enough time to choose another candidate and it is not a problem, he said.
It was found that Ms. Lakshmipriya’s name was allegedly missing from the electoral roll of her current residence, Karingachira near Thripunithura. Her name is also not listed in her former abode, Thrikkakara. The actor was not available for comment.
The actor was part of the list of candidates published by the twenty-something on Tuesday. Actors Anjali Nair and Veena Nair have been declared candidates for Thripunithura seat in Ernakulam and Ettumanur segment in Kottayam.
