Daytime temperatures appear to have dropped in many parts of the state over the past few days, affected by isolated heavy summer showers. According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday, no sharp rise in temperatures is expected in the state in the next few days as isolated summer rains are likely across the state.
According to the prevailing conditions, the temperature is expected to remain subdued and stable for the next two days as well. During the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Wednesday, many parts of the state received rain. Mavelikkara in Alappuzha and Thrithala in Palakkad received 6 cm of rain each, followed by Kunnamkulam in Thrissur and Angadipuram in Malappuram with 3 cm each.
As a result, the temperature dropped significantly across most of the state, with most weather stations recording temperatures below the long-term average as of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Palakkad and Punalur recorded maximum temperatures of 36.5 and 36.2 degrees Celsius respectively, which were almost 1 degree Celsius lower than the average temperature recorded during the period.
Pre-monsoon activity is likely to persist for two days, triggered by two troughs that have been moving across the southern peninsula, one in the west and the other in the east. Moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal will flow into the trough along with sea breeze mainly during the afternoon, triggering weather activity for the next few days.
