Lack of LPG cylinders: With LPG supply constraints impacting hotels, businesses and even domestic consumers due to longer waiting periods and panic bookings, the Center has asked states to speed up approvals for gas pipeline projects to enable faster rollout and ease the pressure on availability of cooking gas.
As the war in the Middle East, which has blocked India’s access to nearly 60% of its LPG supplies, continues unabated, the government is now pushing for the use of alternative cooking media such as induction hobs.
The government has also asked domestic LPG users to switch to piped natural gas (PNG) as they may have relatively better supplies. In support of the centre, it also said companies like Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), GAIL, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) will offer incentives to customers who register by March 31.
However, it should be noted that not all areas across India have PNG pipelines. Before registering for a new connection, you must first check whether your area is covered by the PNG delivery zone.
These state-owned companies have encouraged customers to use digital platforms including websites and mobile apps to register, top up books and track deliveries more efficiently without queuing.

How to register for IGL PNG connection
To register for Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) PNG connection you will need to visit the link and fill out the online form. Upload your documents, select your preferred installation date and submit the form online. You will then receive a confirmation and can make the payment online.
How to register to join MGL PNG
To apply for a new PNG Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) connection, first go to the user registration form at Then enter your PIN and proceed. Click on your building name, enter flat number and other details, PAN number, Aadhaar number, mobile number and email address carefully. Click submit and wait for an MGL representative to contact you. To complete your registration, go to the MGL registration page at Then enter details including name, business partner or contract account number, email ID, mobile/landline number, create password and captcha. Click submit to complete the registration process.
How to register for GAIL PNG connection
GAIL (India) Limited is a state-owned gas company headquartered in New Delhi. Among other things, GAIL provides domestic PNG services. To register online for a new GAIL PNG connection, visit the official GAIL website and check your local distribution partner. Fill out the application form with your personal details and address. Submit scanned copies of required documents like identity proof, address proof etc. Choose your preferred installation date and make payment online through prescribed methods.
