MANN+HUMMEL opens a technology, innovation center in Karnataka

MANN+HUMMEL, a provider of filtration solutions, announced on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) the launch of its new state-of-the-art Global Technology & Innovation Center in Karnataka, the company’s largest development center outside of Germany.

The new facility is designed to accelerate global product development and customer-focused innovation by integrating advanced research laboratories, testing infrastructure, digital engineering and data analytics under one roof.

And this unified approach is expected to support next-generation filtration solutions across mobility, industrial applications, and clean air and water treatment, according to company officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Kurk Wilks, President and CEO, MANN+HUMMEL Group said, “India is at the forefront of technical talent and technological advancement, making it a natural choice for our largest development center outside of Germany.”

The center would not only accelerate the group’s innovation capabilities but also enable it to deliver scalable and sustainable filtration solutions to customers worldwide, he added.

Sudeesh Karimbingal, Managing Director, MANN+HUMMEL India, said: “The new facility in Tumkur transforms India from a support center to a strategic engineering powerhouse that drives innovation that meets the needs of both local and global markets.”

The Tumkur facility will focus on developing energy-efficient filtration systems, reducing lifecycle emissions and advancing circular solutions, including the use of recycled materials and eco-friendly product design, the company said. The center would also support the company’s efforts to address critical environmental issues such as improving air quality, water purification, industrial emissions and access to clean water.

MANN+HUMMEL also announced plans to invest in a new plant in Pune and the site will support existing and new customers across key segments including manufacturing, automotive (passenger cars), heavy (road and off-road) and industrial applications.

The German firm also said it will invest more than ₹100 crore to expand into India. It currently employs 1,250 people in India and plans to employ another 300 to 400 people in the next year.
