Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix production company appears to be running out of steam. It’s been five and a half years since Archewell Productions signed with the OTT platform. According to Variety, which spoke to six well-placed insiders, the partnership was far from smooth sailing.
Archewell was launched in 2020 to produce films and web series. However, for the past 18 months it has largely served as a vehicle for Meghan’s lifestyle brand As Ever.
Netflix recently withdrew its financial support from the venture. It has sparked fresh speculation about the Sussexes’ future on the platform.

Insiders say Netflix is tired of Harry and Meghan repeatedly telling the same story about their royal exit. The partnership is expected to end quietly.
“The mood in the building is ‘We’re done,'” a Netflix insider told Variety of Harry and Meghan.
LiveMint could not independently verify the claims made in this story.
Behind the scenes, the relationship between Harry-Meghan and Netflix appears to be increasingly strained, although both sides publicly deny this, the publication reports.
Meghan’s lifestyle show With the Love of Meghan has received little viewership. Various sources describe Archewell’s communications with Netflix as consistently poor.
According to three insiders, Netflix chief Ted Sarandos and chief content officer Bela Bajaria are frustrated with the former royals. Two sources say Sarandos recently said he wouldn’t take a call with Meghan without a lawyer present. However, Netflix called the claim “completely inaccurate”.

Harry-Meghan’s lawyer also denied this. According to Michael J Kump, Meghan regularly texts Sarandos and visits his home.
Bajaria, meanwhile, publicly praised Archewell as a “thoughtful and collaborative partner.” Sarandos and his wife also meet regularly with Harry and Meghan. They are neighbors in Montecito, California.
According to Variety , the picture that emerges is a messy one; heat in public, tense behind closed doors.
Apparently the cracks were forming long before they became public. A second batch of episodes of With Love, Meghan was released in August 2025 and performed poorly.
Netflix was left with more than $10 million in unsold products, teas, baking mixes and more. She allegedly gave the surplus away to employees for free. Archewell called it standard studio practice.
Netflix later clarified that it only intended to help the launch as always, not to own it long-term. The show itself has not been fully restored. However, the Sussexes say it will continue as a seasonal special.

The frustration, sources tell Variety, is not new. When Harry and Meghan moved to the US in March 2020, they held talks with Disney, Apple, Warner Bros and others before choosing Netflix.
Each studio wanted the same thing: never-before-seen footage of their royal exit. These shots became their most valuable bargaining chip.
Reaction on social networks
Social media users reacted to the claim. Many of them believe that the alleged feud between Netflix and Harry-Meghan is justified.
“Why people put her down for so long I have no idea. The Harry & Meghan & Oprah Netflix show was all they had and so many things turned out to be lies. They should have been shelved years ago,” wrote one.
“Netflix never got access despite Meghan and Harry wearing microphones. H&M has been persona non grata in RF for years; Netflix should have ditched them a long time ago,” another user commented.
Another wrote: “I’m just shocked that all the unscrupulous executives in Hollywood couldn’t see right through these two.”
“Blinded? Did Netflix suddenly realize they were dealing with garbage and be shocked?” asked another.
