Warangal MP Kadiyam Kavya urged the Union government to set up either a new railway zone or a full-fledged sub-zone centered around Kazipet, one of Telangana’s most important railway hubs.
She also pressed for the immediate commissioning of the long-pending Kazipet Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU), saying the project has been delayed for decades despite its potential to generate significant employment for the local youth. “Class III and Class IV jobs must be filled by locals, especially SCs and STs,” she said.
On Monday in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the Railway Ministry’s grant demands for 2026-27, Ms. Kavya said that the increasing traffic congestion at the Kazipet junction required urgent intervention.
Ms. Kavya demanded that the proposed Rail Under Rail (RUR) tunnel at Kazipet be completed on priority to ease the existing bottlenecks. She welcomed the Centre’s proposal for high-speed rail corridors connecting Hyderabad to Chennai, Bengaluru and Pune and sought a clear timetable for the implementation of these ambitious projects.
The MP also called for speeding up track doubling and widening work, especially in backward and tribal regions of the state like Bhupalpally, to improve connectivity and development opportunities.
