IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu emphasized the importance of early detection of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) as well as early intervention to save lives and prevent transmission.
DR-TB has emerged as a major public health challenge as it does not respond to standard treatment, the minister said on Tuesday, launching advanced diagnostic kits for drug-resistant tuberculosis manufactured by a French firm at Genome Valley in Hyderabad.
