TPCC president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud dared the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leadership to demand that party supremo and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao undergo drug testing and face a “White Challenge” to prove their innocence.
Mahesh Kumar, who attended the Governor’s vote of thanks in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, asked, “Are you (BRS legislators) ready for the drug test? Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy claims he was ready to undergo the test. “Are you ready to bring every candidate who has received the BRS B-Form?” he asked.
The call followed the recent EAGLE raid on a farm in Moinabad over the weekend where several individuals, including former pilot BRS MLA Rohith Reddy, tested positive for narcotics.
The Congress MLA accused the BRS of double standards and pointed out that those who once insisted on breath tests are now resisting drug analysis. He claimed that drug use, including marijuana, had skyrocketed during the previous decade of BRS rule, leading to addiction in large numbers of young people.
“It is extremely unfortunate that people who are expected to be role models are themselves involved with drugs,” he said, describing the situation as a direct result of the previous government’s failure. Defending the Congress government, Mahesh Kumar said operations like HYDRAA would continue despite the opposition’s “false propaganda”. He also highlighted several lake restoration works.
