YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said there was “widespread public discontent” against the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, with discussions in “every household” questioning its performance.
Addressing local body officials and party cadre from Ongole Assembly constituency in Tadepalli, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the government has failed to reach out to any section of the society.
“People are increasingly comparing the present administration with the YSRCP administration and asking why the earlier social security schemes are not continuing,” he said.
Accusing the government of resorting to heavy borrowing, Mr. Jagan said it had taken loans of ₹3.30 crore in two years without implementing any major welfare or development programme. He alleged that the YSRCP government transferred a substantial portion of the loans directly to the beneficiaries through DBT schemes.
He further claimed that there had been a sharp decline in government revenue due to mismanagement and corruption, and blamed the ruling exemption for indiscriminate use of natural resources and public property. “Industries like mining, liquor and land allotment are being misused, leading to financial pressure on the exchequer,” said the former chief minister.
He criticized the government for its alleged failure to respond to various controversies involving members of the public, claiming that there had been “no action” in several cases.
He urged the cadre to remain united and actively cooperate with the public. He stressed that the party stands on the principles of credibility and values, and called on leaders and workers to strengthen relations between citizens.
He also announced that he would undertake a padayatra after about a year and a half, during which he planned to spend more time among the people. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power and promised more importance to party workers under “Jagana 2.0”. dispensation.
