The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court on Monday ordered the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vilathikulam to investigate the murder of a 17-year-old Class XII girl at Kulathur in Thoothukudi that sparked widespread outrage.
A Division Bench of Justice N. Sathish Kumar and M. Jothiraman directed the Vilathikulam DSP to record the audio-video statement of the girl’s parents and asked the parents to cooperate in the investigation. Thoothukudi Superintendent of Police gave a status report. Diary files were also presented to the court.
