
Two persons were arrested for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated food following raids at two places in Subhan and Laxmiguda Colony on Monday (March 16). The value of the seized items was estimated to be around ₹1.1 million.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Haque, 54, resident of Subhan Colony and owner of Lucky Foods Company, and Mohammed Qameruddin, 70, resident of Brundavan Colony in Laxmiguda and owner of M/s Zee Foods.
According to the police, the raids were carried out after receiving information that adulterated food products were being prepared using harmful ingredients and being supplied to local shops. During the searches, officials found that the spoiled food was allegedly processed and packaged in unsanitary conditions. The accused were suspected of mixing chemicals while preparing the products and distributing them to shops in Hyderabad.
The police recovered several items from the localities, including vanilla flavor powder, 10 kg of sodium benzoate, small boxes of raspberry red and lemon yellow dyes, 98 boxes of motichoor laddu and about 35 kg of loose laddu material.
