US President Donald Trump wondered aloud on Monday whether Venezuela could become the 51st state of the United States.
“Wow! Venezuela beat Italy 4-2 tonight in the WBC (Baseball) semifinals! They look really great. Good things have been happening to Venezuela lately! (sic),” Trump said as he delivered his stance on statehood.
“I wonder what the magic is about? STATE, number 51, ANYONE? (sic),” Trump asked on his Truth Social platform.
Trump has previously called for Canada to join the US as its 51st state, but his latest post was the first time a US president has used the word “statehood” in relation to Venezuela.
