Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) held a high-level review on three important topics, including the Uttar Pradesh Data Center Cluster (UPDCC), the Ganga Project and possible exemption from levy and cess mandi to promote self-processing of wheat.

“Reviewing the Uttar Pradesh Data Center Cluster (UPDCC), the Chief Minister said that the project will create the basic infrastructure for the AI ​​mission of Uttar Pradesh. The Data Center Cluster should not remain limited to the NCR region and other parts of the state should also be connected to it. The Chief Minister directed that the project may start from the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority where there is a large Dialogue Area (BIDAlogue). technology companies, including the Tata Group, to develop Lucknow as an ‘Artificial Intelligence City’,” an official statement said.

During the meeting with the Chief Minister, it was informed that the Uttar Pradesh data center cluster is a long-term strategy to become the largest. The presentation informs that it is not just a project, but a plan for the new economic structure of Uttar Pradesh for the next 50 years. It set goals to build a $5 trillion economy, create more than 1.5 million direct jobs, and develop a 5-gigawatt artificial intelligence computing corridor by 2040. During the meeting, it was said that by 2040, the new world economy will develop around “arenas of the future” such as artificial intelligence, cloud, cyber devices, combined global market technology, robotic technology, semiconductors $29 to $48 trillion, the statement added.

Mr. Adityanath also reviewed ‘Project Ganga’ – A Government sponsored network for growth and progress. He directed that the youth selected as digital entrepreneurs should be given quality training. He said a system should also be developed so that exploration companies can use these young people.

“Chief Minister emphasized on rapid expansion of optical fiber network and complete transparency of all works. Digital entrepreneurs should be given proper incentives from the beginning. The meeting was informed that Project Ganga is an ambitious initiative to bring high-speed broadband to rural Uttar Pradesh. It aims not only to provide internet but also to promote telemedicine, digital education, skill development and rural entrepreneurship, more than digital entrepreneurship. 10,000 youth of people to become digital service providers (DSPs), which are expected to create around 50,000 direct and over 1,00,000 indirect jobs,” the statement added.

Under this scheme, a target has been set to connect more than 20 million households with fiber optic high-speed internet networks. Each DSP will be able to connect 200 to 300 households in its area. Special priority was also given to women’s entrepreneurship and a target was set to include approximately 50% of women entrepreneurs, the government added.
