“I am deeply saddened by the latest news of civilian casualties as a result of Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul,” Rashid wrote.
The star all-rounder emphasized that any strike on civilian targets, whether intentional or accidental, is a serious violation of international law.
“Targeting civilian homes, educational facilities or medical infrastructure, whether intentional or by mistake, is a war crime. The utter disregard for human life, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, is abhorrent and deeply disturbing,” Rashid said.
“I call on the UN and other human rights organizations to thoroughly investigate this latest atrocity and bring the perpetrators to justice. I stand with my Afghan people in this difficult time. We will heal and rise as a nation. We always do. Inshallah,” he added.
Afghanistan’s veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi also reacted to the attack in an emotional message on social media, mourning the lives lost in the incident.
“Tonight in Kabul, hope went out in the hospital,” Nabi wrote.
“Young men seeking treatment were murdered in a bomb attack by the Pakistani military regime. Mothers waited at the gates calling their sons’ names. On the 28th night of Ramadan, their lives were cut short,” he added.
