The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday slammed the state government following reports that a 66-year-old woman was allegedly the target of an attempted sexual assault by a group of youths in Salem.
In a post on X, the party said the incident was shocking and said it reflected the deterioration of law and order in Tamil Nadu under Chief Minister MK Stalin’s government.
The party claimed that crimes such as robberies and murders were on the rise and that even elderly women were no longer safe in the state. He also claimed that the circulation of narcotics, including ganja, contributed to such incidents and accused the government of failing to control drug use.
TVK television reported that youths addicted to drugs were engaging in violent acts, adding that the government had failed to ensure public safety.
