Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has urged former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to attend the upcoming Assembly sessions and make constructive suggestions to the government.
The minister was speaking to the media after attending an Iftar dinner organized by TPCC working president T. Jagga Reddy and TGIIC president Nirmala Jagga Reddy at Sangareddy.
Mr. Komatireddy noted that during the previous sessions of the Assembly, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao came and went briefly without participating in detailed discussions. “At least this time I am asking him to attend and lead the House,” he said.
Comparing it with neighboring Andhra Pradesh, the minister said YSRCP had secured 11 seats but was not given the status of Leader of the Opposition. “We have given you opposition status in Telangana. We are ready to accept Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s suggestions,” he said, adding that constructive criticism would only strengthen the former chief minister’s position.
Mr Reddy said the presentations on the Musi river by BRS working president KT Rama Rao were “laughable”. He claimed that the people of Nalgonda district continue to face severe hardship due to Musi-related problems and long-term fluoride contamination. “The people of Nalgonda know the suffering they have undergone because of the fluoride problem,” he said.
Mr. Komatireddy also criticized the rice distribution policy of the BRS government, alleging that the rough rice supplied earlier was not consumed by the beneficiaries and was instead sold back to ration dealers. “Our government provides quality rice to every white ration card holder,” he claimed.
