Congress activists led by MLC Balmoor Venkat burnt the effigy of BRS working president KT Rama Rao, accusing him of promoting ‘drug culture’ in Telangana.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Balmoor Venkat reiterated his earlier appeal to Mr. Rama Rao to submit to the “white test” (drug test), claiming that the recent incidents have once again raised serious questions. Referring to the recent raid on the farm of former MLA Rohit Reddy’s BRS pilot and the subsequent filing of an FIR, he said the episode “revealed the connection of certain leaders with drug networks”.
Mr. Venkat alleged that members of the previous ruling party were caught with drugs by enforcement teams. “Your leaders were caught with drugs by the EAGLE team. Now it should be clear what Mr. Rama Rao’s response will be. If you dare, respond to this incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, TPCC General Secretary Chanagani Dayakar demanded that Mr. Rama Rao give a clear explanation regarding the alleged drug ring involving the former MLA. He further said that the BRS should face consequences if those associated with it were found to be encouraging drug-related activities.
