The court directs the police to register a case, investigate Ansiba’s complaint
The Ernakulam District Court on Tuesday directed the police to register a case and investigate the complaint filed by actress Ansiba Hassan against fellow actor Tiny Tom.
Ms. Hassan filed a petition challenging the police’s decision not to file an FIR on her complaint, despite being constantly subjected to alleged harassment, obscene remarks, gender-based insults and general comments, including allegations regarding her origin, family life and religious identity.
The actor approached the court and alleged that the Kadavanthra police refused to register a case despite filing complaints and giving statements. In her petition, she claimed that the offense was punishable under Sections 74 (criminal violence against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 75(iv) (making sexually tinged remarks), 79 (word, gesture or act insulting modesty), 299 (willful and malicious intent to outrage religious sentiments) and 302 (intentionally injuring the religious sentiments of Ny theaya). Sanhita and Section 119(a) of the Kerala Police Act.
However, the Kadavanthra police said that they have not yet received the order and necessary action will be taken once it is received.
