Congress and DMK leaders met for the first time on Saturday (March 14, 2026) to discuss seat-sharing for the 2026 parliamentary polls in the Union Territory.
The meeting started at a hotel near Ajantha Signal around 8:00 PM. The DMK side for the talks was led by Member of Parliament and Party Union Territory Coordinator S. Jagathrakshakan, while the Congress delegation was led by MP and PCC chief V. Vaithilingam.
Former Chief V. Narayanasamy and Leader of the Opposition and DMK convener R. Siva are also part of the meeting. Congress contested 14 seats, leaving 13 for DMK, one each for CPI and VCK in the 30-member Puducherry Assembly during the 2021 polls. The alliance did not field any candidate in Yanam constituency.
