Nearly 300 Olive Ridley sea turtle hatchlings were released into the sea at Gacchakayalapora in Dr. District on Saturday (March 14, 2026). BR Ambedkar Konaseema. District Collector R. Mahesh Kumar said that nearly 50,000 Olive Ridley turtle eggs have been preserved from four nesting sites — Nela Revu, Vasala Tippa, S. Yanam and Sacramento Island — during the ongoing nesting season by the forest department staff. The eggs are protected by the in-situ method, while special teams have been deployed in the nesting sites to monitor the eggs as well as the hatchlings at the nesting sites and nesting sites.
