The forest department continues its search for elusive carnivores, who killed and partially consumed a 50 -year -old woman in the village of Arakada near Udhagamandalam.
It is assumed that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, with the body of a 50 -year -old G. Anjalai of the Perara, which was discovered on Thursday by the locals. After the incident of the forest department, it immediately moved its efforts to identify the animal responsible for the incident, while the camera traps were set near the point where the body was discovered.
Divisional Forest Officer (Division Nilgiris) S. Gowtha said Hind The fact that the camera traps set in this area could not be captured by any paintings of carnivores that could be responsible for the attack. “However, we found pug brands and also collected hair samples from the area, the second was sent for forensic analysis to confirm the species of the animal,” said Mr. Gowtham.
Forest department officials suspect that a woman was killed by a leopard who was found on the site of an attack, associated with local knowledge of the area, and was seen in this area.
Mr. Gowtham also added that there were no other negative interactions between humanbeings and wildlife. Forest department officials express the hope that the incident has been an isolated case and continues to monitor the area and discourage people from courageous nearly forested areas, especially during the evenings.
