
As Bengaluru Milk Union Ltd. is expected to (BAMUL) to post a record turnover of around ₹ 3,400 crore by the end of financial year 2025-26, has decided to pay ₹ 1 per liter as ‘Ugadi Bonus’ to 1.27 lakh farmers from whom milk is sourced from April 31, 2025 to March 6 this year. procured 59.39 lakh liters of milk this year and the ‘Ugad Bonus’ will see an expenditure of around ₹59.39 crore.
On an average, 16 to 18 million liters of milk are purchased daily, with the milk union aiming to reach 24 million per day.
“BAMUL, which posted a loss of ₹14.5 crore, has already posted a profit of ₹60 crore. This year’s turnover has increased by around ₹500 crore so far. Last year, the turnover was around ₹2,900 crore,” BAMUL president DK Suresh told reporters here on Thursday. He said BAMUL has set a target of ₹5,000 crore turnover in the coming years.
He said that apart from paying Ugadan bonus to farmers, the dairy union has decided to pay ₹5,000 to casual workers, cancel DA levies of ₹4.68 crore to workers and confirm the appointment of workers who have not been confirmed in the last three years. BAMUL will also provide ₹15,000 to each of the 2,300 milk cooperatives, which will cost about ₹3.45 crore.
