Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Managing Director M. Ravichandra inspected the functioning of the luggage counter set up at Alipiri to improve the facilities and reach out to more devotees.
During his visit to the center with Chief Vigilance and Security Officer KV Muralikrishna, he inspected how the luggage stored by trekking devotees was being transported safely to Tirumala.
It was customary for trekkers to deposit their luggage at Alipiri, at the base of the hills, and take it back once they reached the top of the hill. The TTD logistics system transports luggage using trucks that reach the hills by the time tourists reach the same spot after climbing the stairs.
Officials explained to Mr. Ravichander that a receipt containing an automatically generated QR code is issued to the devotees after deposit. Nearly 6,000 bags are transported from Alipiri to Tirumala on normal days and the number reaches nearly 10,000 on festival days.
Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer (Alipiri) Ramesh Krishnan and other officials were present.
