The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders of working with the sole agenda of ‘Target Tirumala’ to tarnish the image of the world famous temple by constantly making false claims.
Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday (March 11, 2026), TTD board member and senior BJP functionary G. Bhanuprakash Reddy accused local leaders led by former TTD president Bhumana Karunakar Reddy of playing to the tune of “Tadepalli Palace”, an oblique reference to the seat of party president Jagan Mohan Reddy YS.
He specifically mentioned the recent allegations by YSRCP leaders of temple theft reported in “Parakamani” (the process of counting the offerings made to Srivari Hundi in Tirumala) by a contract worker Penchalaiah and the way the matter was exaggerated after a few months.
Hitting out at Mr Karunakar Reddy for his “empty allegations”, Mr Bhanuprakash Reddy said the TTD management had taken appropriate action against his contract worker and had him arrested for the crime.
“In stark contrast to CV Ravikumar, the notorious Parakamani thief during the YSRCP regime, was treated royally and became a sought-after donor to TTD by stripping him of his property and forcing him to donate to TTD in an apparent out-of-court settlement. Is this the way to deal with a criminal?” he sought to know.
Mr. Reddy accused the YSRCP of relentlessly playing with the sentiments of Hindu devotees by targeting the Tirumala temple.
