The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to accused Pawan Kumar Bishnoi in the Sidhu Moosewal murder case, his lawyer said.
Pawan Bishnoi is the sixth accused in a list of 20 accused in Moosewala’s murder, the lawyer said.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022. The 28-year-old singer was attacked by assailants who fired more than 30 bullets at him. Locals later found him collapsed in the driver’s seat.
Charges have been filed against jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and 26 other accused in connection with the murder case.
Last month, the parents of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewal staged a protest against the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Mansa for not registering an FIR on their complaint against music producer Bunty Bains and others for alleged financial irregularities.
While organizing the protest, Balkaur Singh, Sidhu Moosewal’s father, claimed that music producer Bunty Bains “has not given him any statement regarding the income from his company”.
“Bunty Bains, who is the manager of my company, did not give me any statement about its income. I lodged a complaint against Bunty Bains, Gurpreet Singh Bhasin and Shabbir Momin. It was handed over to Mansa SSP for investigation but nothing happened. I reached the SSP office today with problems because I reached DIGhm Harjeet’s office. IS fraud,” said Balkaur Singh, father of late Sidhu Moosewal.
“Neither (the police) act on my complaint nor return it. The SSP will not take any action in this matter,” he said.
If my complaint is false, the police should return it, he said.
Balkaur also said he was forced to stage a sit-in due to police inaction on his complaint.
Almost two years after Moosewal’s death, his parents Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur welcomed a baby boy.
“With the blessings of millions of souls who love Shubhdeep, the Almighty has placed Shubh’s younger brother in our lap. But the government is now troubling me and asking me to prove his legal status. I want to request the CM (Bhagwant Mann) to please allow me to complete the treatment, then I will come wherever the government calls me; ex-law calls me. all the legal documents and I will prove it, but if the state doesn’t believe me, he can file an FIR,” wrote Balkaur Singh on Facebook.
