
CPI(M) state committee member and former district secretary EN Mohandas (74) died on Wednesday. He died at EMS Memorial Cooperative Hospital, Perinthalmanna, where he was being treated for stroke-related ailments.
Mr. Mohandas has spent his life for the party since his retirement as the Principal of the AUP School in Mannazhi. He held the position of district secretary for two consecutive terms.
He was the founding manager of the Malappuram edition of Desabhimani and the secretary of the EMS Study and Research Centre, Malappuram. He was the president of Kodur Service Cooperative Bank for several years.
His body was kept at the local town hall, where people from different walks of life paid tribute to him. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan were among those who offered condolences.
As per his will, his body was donated to Government Medical College, Manjeri to serve medical education. He is survived by his wife Geeta.
