Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) Political Bureau Member A. Vijayaraghavan described expelled leader PK Sasi as a traitor to the party and said the loss would be only for him and not for the party.
Mr. Vijayaraghavan was inaugurating the CPI(M) political explanatory meeting at Mannarkkad on Wednesday. Drawing on iconic characters from Malayalam cinema, Mr. Vijayaraghavan likened Mr. Sasi to Mangalassery Neelakandan while he remains in the group but to Keeleri Achu once he leaves the party.
CPI(M) leaders who spoke at the meeting lashed out at Mr. Sasi. EN District Secretary Suresh Babu said he had initiated legal proceedings against Mr. Sasi for associating him with the “spiritual lobby”.
He said Mr. Sasi had become rich by betraying the party. “It was better left unsaid until now, but there is no reason to keep hiding it,” he said, adding that Mr. Sasi would have to regret leaving the party.
Former CPI(M) Mannarkkad secretary UT Ramakrishnan presided over the function. K. Premkumar, MLA, Central Committee member KS Saleekha, PM Arsho, KC Riyasudheen and MK Narayanan spoke.
