
The Kerala Co-operative Development and Welfare Fund Board has approved ₹28.5 crore as a loan to support eight crisis-hit cooperative institutions including the Kandala Service Cooperative Bank. The decision was taken in a board meeting held the next day, Cooperation Minister VN Vasavan said on Wednesday. The following institutions will receive assistance: Chakkitapara Service Cooperative Bank (₹5 crore), Kanjiram Service Cooperative Bank (₹2 crore), Omallur Service Cooperative Bank (₹5 crore), Koduvally Scheduled Caste Cooperative Society (₹50 lakh), EMS Memorial Cooperative Hospital and Research Center (₹2 crore), Cherpulry Service Cooperative Bank Cooperative Hospital and Research Center (₹6 crore) and Thirumala Service Cooperative Society (₹6 crore). The decision is aimed at strengthening the institutions of the crisis-ridden cooperative sector, the minister said.
