Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy appealed to the Ministry of Railways to consider the Andhra Pradesh government’s 2022 proposal to develop a new broad gauge railway line by rerouting the existing line laid to Pendlimarri into two branches.
Mr. Avinash Reddy met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Wednesday and sought the laying of a line from Pendlimarri to Puttaparthi via Pulivendula and Mudigubba, covering about 120 km. He also proposed a second line from Muddanur to Pulivendula of about 38 km.
He explained that the proposed route would act as an additional route to the existing Kadapa-Bengaluru railway line and could connect several cement plants around Muddanur and the Kopparthi industrial area, improving the economic viability of the project.
Since the entire stretch lies in Andhra Pradesh, the land acquisition could be completed in a relatively short time, he told the Union minister on his behalf.
