
Gujarat Titans announced former India batsman Vijay Dahija as their new assistant coach ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League season on Wednesday 11 March. A respected figure in Indian cricket, Dahiya represented his national side in 19 ODIs and two Tests and enjoyed a successful domestic career with Delhi before moving into coaching.
He later led Delhi to the 2007–08 Ranji Trophy title and established himself as an able mentor in domestic cricket. He has also built an impressive coaching resume over the years across domestic tournaments and the IPL. Earlier, Dahiya also served as assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)working in the support staff group under Andy Flower since the team’s inception in 2022 before parting ways ahead of the 2024 IPL season.

He also worked with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise as their assistant coach and served as a talent scout for the Delhi Capitals (DC). Dahiya’s appointment comes shortly after the Titans brought in the former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden as their batting coachfurther strengthening the team’s background before the upcoming season.
Since their debut in 2022, Gujarat Titans have quickly established themselves as one of the most consistent sides in the IPL. The franchise reached the playoffs in three of its first four seasons and lifted the title in its inaugural campaign. The Shubman Gill-led side also made it to the playoffs last season before crashing out in the Eliminator after losing to Mumbai Indians.
With a strengthened coaching structure now in place, Gujarat Titans will look to build on their impressive record as preparations for the IPL 2026 season gather pace. Gujarat will begin their campaign against the Punjab Kings on Tuesday, March 31 at Mullanpur.
